Open to people of ALL levels of Spanish ability, our immersion medical events will put even beginning speakers on the right track. We provide hands-on Spanish language One-Day Workshops to help you acquire and sharpen your Spanish medical vocabulary and insight for working with the Latino Community.

The Workshop reviews greetings, body parts and organs, symptoms & conditions, patient interviewing, doing a physical exam, using medical instruments, giving instructions, and some cultural sensitivity. We use lots of props and role playing and also give you a hefty packet of materials to work with when you're on your own.

You'll have a chance to role-play typical scenarios, as well as ask specific questions particular to your circumstances. Our courses are supplemented by a rich packet of materials that you will use long after the event is over, for reference and further study.

Medical Spanish Workshops meet from 9:30 am to 4 pm.
The fee for each Medical Spanish Workshops is $195; and includes lunch and materials. Nurses are eligible to receive 8 CEH's for an additional $50.

These courses have been designed by Ronda Calef, founder and director of WEEKEND en español®, in conjunction with Barbara Newlin, nurse practitioner and AIDS consultant for the World Health Organization, and Dr. Tomás Magaña, 1995 graduate of UCSF Medical School.
